LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Following Nebraska’s Week 1 victory over Ohio 49-21, the page has now turned to the next game against Bowling Green Saturday night at 6 p.m.

Offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, defensive coordinator Rob Aurich and players met with media on Tuesday at the Hawks Championship Center to discus what went well against the Bobcats, and where Nebraska still should see some improvement heading into Week 2.

Big Red’s offense really found its stride in the second half, scoring a touchdown on each of its final five possessions. Holgorsen said it all came down to limiting costly penalties, which Nebraska had an issue with in the first two quarters.

“We ended up getting in third-and-long way too much,” Holgorsen said. “Third-and-21 was one of them, third-and-31 was one of them. It’s just mistakes, every time you have a penalty, your odds of scoring goes down. Any time you have two penalties, your odds of scoring really go down. All week that’s all we preached was, you know, don’t beat ourselves . . . make routine plays.”
