AGOA market access extended – The Reporter Lesotho

Lesotho’s exports to the United States will continue to enjoy duty-free access until December 2028 following the extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development announced in a statement yesterday that the two-year extension was signed into law by U.S. President Donald Trump on September2.

The extension provides continued preferential market access for goods originating from Lesotho, including textiles, apparel and fisheries.

The announcement provides relief to Lesotho exporters after the expiry of Section 122 tariff lines on July 24, 2026, which had resulted in tariffs being imposed on some exports from the country.

Government has encouraged local businesses to take advantage of the renewed access by increasing exports and diversifying the range of products supplied to the U.S. market.
