Jakarta, IO – Perum BULOG has mobilized its teams across Indonesia to conduct simultaneous market inspections, ensuring adequate supplies while keeping rice and other staple food prices under control.
The Cheap Food Movement/Market Inspection is part of BULOG’s efforts to strengthen food stabilization. BULOG works to identify potential price increases or supply disruptions early and take timely action.
The move is backed by strong government rice reserves. As of September 5, 2026, BULOG managed around 4.9 million tons of Government Rice Reserves (CBP), distributed across its warehouse network throughout Indonesia. On the distribution side, rice under the 2026 Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program had reached around 756,000 tons as of September 5. The strong stock position and significant distribution volume give BULOG sufficient room to carry out measured market interventions to maintain rice availability and affordability for consumers.
BULOG President Director Lieutenant General (Ret.) Dr. Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, S.Sos., S.H., M.Han., stressed that direct market monitoring is important. “We are not just responding to complaints, but anticipating inflationary pressures. That is our main priority because BULOG’s primary mandate is to maintain price stability,” Ahmad Rizal said during a market inspection in Jakarta on Saturday, September 5.

To further boost market supplies, BULOG has also coordinated with modern retail networks across Indonesia and prepared to release 110,000 tons of rice over one month, comprising 75,000 tons of premium rice and 35,000 tons of medium rice. The supply will be distributed gradually through modern retailers and markets where food prices are being monitored, giving consumers wider access to rice at competitive prices.
By strengthening stocks, accelerating SPHP distribution, increasing premium rice supplies, conducting market operations, and carrying out simultaneous direct monitoring, BULOG and the National Food Agency (Bapanas) are ensuring that all available instruments maintain national food stability. Coordination with the government, authorities, market players, modern retail networks, and other stakeholders will continue to ensure an even distribution of supplies and affordable, reasonable food prices for people across Indonesia.
