Following a judge’s declaration of a mistrial in the case against Lindsay Clancy, WBUR takes a step back to look at what happened in a special limited podcast series appearing in the “Beyond All Repair” feed.

As reported by WBUR’s Deborah Becker, the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict as to whether the 36-year-old Duxbury mother — charged with strangling her three children in 2023 — should be held criminally responsible for their deaths.

Throughout the trial, the defense argued that Clancy had postpartum psychosis and did not get proper mental health treatment despite her best efforts, was overmedicated and ultimately, suffered a psychotic break. The trial sparked intense discussion surrounding postpartum mental healthcare and criminal justice.
