In view of the forecast of inclement weather and heavy rainfall, the district administration of Nainital has taken a significant decision. Following the weather department’s forecast and the issued alert, a holiday has been declared for all government, semi-government, and private schools in the Nainital district for Saturday, September 5, 2026.
According to the order issued by the District Magistrate and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, there is a likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the district, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and intense spells of rain. This decision has been taken to ensure the safety of the students.

As per the order, all educational institutions conducting classes from 1 to 12 will remain closed on September 5. Additionally, instructions have been issued to keep all Anganwadi centers in the district closed as well.
However, the order clarifies that these directives do not apply to residential educational institutions operating within the Nainital city area or to schools that provide on-campus residential facilities for students.
