Ragin Cajun fans must make sure to bring an umbrella the home opener tailgate due to a 70% chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms between 1p.m. and 5 p.m., and a high of 89 degrees.
Saturday night, the rain is expected to clear up after 7 p.m., with partly cloudy skies and a low of 74 degrees.
On Sunday, it is expected to be mostly sunny, bringing the high to 92, with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Sunday night should be mostly clear with a low around 75 degrees.
Labor Day should be mostly sunny with a high of 94 degrees and a 50% chance of rain after 1 p.m. That evening, the low is expected to be around 75.
With increased temperatures on Labor Day, the Louisiana Department of Health sent a notice reminding families to make heat safety and water safety a priority; whether spending time by a pool or at the Cajuns football game, simple precautions can save lives.
LDH Secretary Bruce D. Greenstein provided some steps to stay safe over the holiday:

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

Limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.

Never leave children or pets in a parked car — even for a few minutes.

Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and use sunscreen.

Check on neighbors, especially older adults or those without air conditioning.
“We urge everyone to take simple but important precautions: protect yourself, family, friends, and neighbors from extreme heat, stay vigilant around water, and make a plan that makes safety a priority,” said Greenstein.
