North Korea kicks off its first national teachers conference in 7 years

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a national teachers conference Wednesday stressed the need to orchestrate an “educational revolution in the new era” for the sake of the country’s future, according to a state media report the next day.

Kim delivered his opening speech in Pyongyang during the 15th National Conference of Teachers that kicked off Wednesday, the first such event in seven years. Model educators from across the country, delegations of Chongryon educators and relevant officials reportedly attended the multi-day event.
