RIO RANCHO, N.M. — The New Mexico Goatheads professional hockey team has sold out all of its single-game tickets for its inaugural game.
The Goatheads announced the single-game ticket sellout Thursday, with a month-and-a-half to go until the game. A “limited inventory” of full-, half- and quarter-season ticket memberships remain with tickets for opening night, set for Friday, Oct. 16.
“The response we’ve received from fans across New Mexico since announcing this team has been incredible and selling out single-game tickets for our first game is another example of the excitement surrounding Goatheads hockey,” general manager Jared Johnson said. “October 16 is going to be a special night for our organization. Our players and everyone who has helped bring professional hockey back to New Mexico. We can’t wait to see the Rio Rancho Events Center packed for the first puck drop in franchise history.”
Tickets are still available for the other opening weekend games – Oct. 17 and Oct. 18, also against the Steelheads. They’re the first three games in the franchise’s history and the franchise’s inaugural, 36-game season.
Led by head coach and former NHL player Zach Stortini, the Goatheads are in the ECHL with an affiliation to the NHL through the Colorado Avalanche. The Avalanche has won the NHL’s Stanley Cup three times, most recently in 2022.
