The National Elections Commission has started training election officials from the ten states and three Administrative Areas on voter registration ahead of the December 2026 elections.

The training is aimed at giving election officials the skills and knowledge needed to conduct voter registration effectively across the country.

Speaking during the training, the elections commission Chairperson Prof. Abednego Akok Kacuol said every eligible citizen has the right to register and vote.

He urged state election committees to work closely together to ensure the registration process is inclusive and reaches eligible voters across the country.

The Chairperson of the Unity State High Elections Committee, George Kong Gattang, said the state is ready to begin voter registration after the training.

In Warrap State, the chairperson of the High Elections Committee, Jacob Anei Manyiel, urged residents to turn out in large numbers to register.

The elections commission says voter registration is a key part of the electoral process and has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair and credible elections.
