The government has decided to constitute a committee to amend the guidelines regarding 25 per cent free admission in private schools. The committee will recommend changes to the guidelines to provide free admission in private unaided schools to children of underprivileged and weaker sections as mandated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, specifically Section 12(1)(c).
The committee constituted at the state level will have 16 members, with director of school education Sameem Ansari as its chairman. The orders were issued by J. Shyamala Rao, principal secretary, department of school education, in this regard. It aims to amend the existing rules in line with the Supreme Court order dated 13 January this year and directions of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).
