A procession featuring the traditional Kyrgyz women’s headdress, the elechek, was held in Kyrchyn Gorge, the World Nomad Games media headquarters reported.
According to the report, participants carried an unusually large elechek measuring 80 centimeters in length and 1.5 meters in diameter. It was made using 40 meters of fabric.
The procession was organized to promote Kyrgyz national heritage, traditions and customs, as well as to highlight the role and place of women in Kyrgyz culture.
A number of cultural events reflecting the traditions and customs of the Kyrgyz people, as well as the characteristics of nomadic civilization, are being held as part of the VI World Nomad Games.
The gorge also houses nomadic ails of two cities and seven regions of Kyrgyzstan, where historical and cultural elements of nomadic civilization are widely represented. There, foreign guests and event participants are shown national crafts, traditions and customs, national games, and the rich cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people.
