Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Bishkek.
The Russian leader stated that the Russian people stand in solidarity with the Iranian people as they fight for their national interests, sovereignty, and independence.
Putin also asked Pezeshkian to convey his greetings and best wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
Mojtaba Khamenei assumed leadership of Iran in March 2026. Vladimir Putin had previously congratulated him on his election and reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to develop Russia — Iran strategic partnership, the Kremlin’s website says.
