Santo Domingo.- President of the Rebel Movement Juan Hubieres accused members of the National Police’s Central Directorate of Investigation (Dicrim) in Bayaguana of allegedly leading the theft of 35 55-inch televisions intended as gifts for athletes from the municipality who won medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

According to Hubieres, the televisions, valued at more than RD$600,000, were stolen early Sunday morning from the Olympic Village. He claimed the incident is part of a broader security problem in Bayaguana, where he says more than 14 crimes have been reported in recent months without arrests.

Hubieres alleged that some Dicrim members are involved in the criminal activity and said he would not identify other individuals he claims may also be implicated.

He further alleged that police investigators have contacted victims of theft to tell them where their stolen belongings can be found, describing this as evidence of possible connections between officers and criminal networks.

Hubieres called on Police Director Ernesto Rafael Rodríguez García, Interior and Police Minister Faride Raful, and Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso to investigate the allegations and take action against those responsible.

The accusations have not been independently verified, and no evidence establishing the involvement of Dicrim officers was provided in the statement.
