Juneau man sentenced for sexual abuse of a minor

A Juneau man was sentenced to 22 years of jail time for the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 13.

Sebastian Leorna, 70, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Amy Mead to 35 years with 13 years suspended for two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree. The Aug. 28 sentencing, which was the result of an agreement with the State to resolve the case without trial, also calls for 25 years of supervised felony probation after release, as well as a requirement to be included in the sex offender registry for life.

The charges stem from incidents from February and March of 2025 where Leorna engaged in sexual contact with a child under the age of 13.

A victim’s impact statement submitted to the court from the girl’s mother included a message to her daughter: “I want to say: we believe you. We see what this did to you. We know it was wrong. And none of it was your fault.”
