1 dead in high-speed, overnight crash on U.S. 2 in Gold Bar

EVERETT — One person is dead after an overnight crash on U.S. 2 in Gold Bar.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, first responders were called to the 500 block of Croft Avenue West, also known as U.S. 2, in Gold Bar for a single-vehicle crash, according to a post from Sky Valley Fire.

One vehicle crashed at a high speed, head-on into a tree, the fire district said. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle.

Firefighters used Jaws of Life to reach the driver, but the person died from their injuries, Sky Valley Fire said. No one else was hurt.

U.S. 2 reopened around 6:30 a.m. after being closed in all directions for at least five hours as a result of the crash, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Snohomish County Fire District No. 5 and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the crash.

Deputies have taken over the crash investigation and said a cause remains under investigation.
