Journalist and host of “RFM Matin”, Babacar Fall, has made public a series of screenshots attesting to the wave of insults and threats he has been subjected to since the airing of his show dedicated to the controversy opposing the Dahiratoul Moustarchidina Wal Moustarchidaty (DMWM) to his brother Abdou Sarr Sy. A publication accompanied by an unequivocal message: “So that no one is unaware…”.

They reveal messages in Wolof, with a hostile and threatening tone, directly targeting the journalist as well as members of his family, notably his mother, who is targeted in several exchanges through insulting and degrading remarks. Some senders go so far as to make barely veiled threats, promising the journalist to “bring him down” or to attack his loved ones, while others multiply direct insults, unfoundedly accusing him of dishonest behavior in the exercise of his profession.

Beyond the written messages, the screenshots also reveal several voice calls made from unknown numbers, some in the middle of the night, as well as the sending of mocking and humiliating video content, clearly intended to further intimidate the journalist. Several of these messages explicitly refer to the controversy arising from the show on August 27, with some senders reproaching Babacar Fall for having hosted Abdou Sarr Sy on his air, even mentioning religious figures to justify their anger.
By making these exchanges public, Babacar Fall clearly intends to demonstrate the extent and real nature of the threats he claims to have received, while his word had already been relayed by several media outlets mentioning “insults and death threats”. This publication thus supports, with material evidence, a situation already denounced a few days earlier by the Council for the Observation of Ethical and Deontological Rules in the media (CORED), which firmly condemned the intimidation aimed at the journalist while calling for calm on issues related to religious brotherhood.
