Peruvian Health Minister Luis Dyer held a working meeting with United States Ambassador Bernie Navarro to strengthen bilateral cooperation and coordinate actions aimed at improving healthcare and health services for the benefit of the population.
During the gathering, Ambassador Navarro congratulated Minister Dyer on his commitment to addressing the sector’s main challenges.
Likewise, the envoy highlighted the importance of healthcare as one of the priority challenges for President Keiko Fujimori’s Government.
Moreover, he expressed the United States’ willingness to continue supporting the digital transformation of healthcare facilities.
In turn, Minister Dyer presented progress in the medical records digitalization strategy, aimed at implementing comprehensive digital healthcare to provide citizens with more accessible, secure, and efficient health services.
The first stage of this digital transformation includes the start of implementation at the San Bartolome National Hospital, Dos de Mayo National Hospital, Hipolito Unanue National Hospital, and Lima Este Ate Vitarte Hospital.
The strategy includes strengthening a control tower for monitoring the healthcare system, which will provide timely information to support decision-making and the tracking of key indicators.
Medicine supply
During the meeting, the Cabinet member also underscored the need to ensure the availability of medicines and medical supplies, as well as to have operational and fully functional healthcare centers capable of meeting the population’s needs, particularly at the primary care level.
Response to El Niño
Another topic addressed was preparedness and response to El Niño 2026-2027, with the aim of strengthening the healthcare system’s capacity to respond to a potential emergency and ensuring the continuity of health services.
The meeting reaffirms the commitment of Minsa and the U.S. Embassy to continue strengthening cooperation between the two countries in healthcare, prioritizing patients’ well-being.
