TURNING RUBBISH INTO CREATIVITY: PORT VILA EXHIBITION PROMOTES REUSE AND RECYCLING

The exhibition started this week and is showing how creativity can give a new life to things that we normally throw away as rubbish.

The tins, plastic and cardboard are taken into the hands of creative men and women, who transform them into items for decorating homes.

The idea behind the exhibition is to raise awareness among the public about the importance of keeping Port Vila and Vanuatu clean, and protecting the environment through reuse and recycling.

ALPHA SOLONG, YOUTH COORDINATOR:

“This is the starting point and maybe tomorrow it will be finished and more creative to use, to make it useful.”

The exhibition will continue until the end of the week, and children, families and members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition.

Organisers hope that through this exhibition, more people will realise that rubbish does not have to simply end up in the bin, but that we can give it a new use through creativity.
