Prayagraj: A 50-year-old wanted criminal was injured and arrested along with his son after an encounter in Fatehpur late Monday night, police said.They said Shahzade, a resident of Amav village in Khaga, and his son Seebu alias Shahbaz (28) were involved in cattle smuggling and slaughtering. They had executed cow slaughtering in Khaga last month.Police said a joint team of Khaga and Hathgav police was conducting routine checks near Barkatpur village road when they noticed two suspicious men roaming in the area. When the cops signalled them to stop, they tried to escape.However, when the police team surrounded them, one of them opened fire. The cops retaliated, resulting in Shahzade sustaining a gunshot injury to his right leg.Police also recovered one .315-bore country-made pistol, one live and one used cartridge, six knives, two axes, one sharp-edged weapon, ropes and mobile phones from Shahzade.He was admitted to a hospital in Fatehpur for treatment.Police said Shahzade has at least eight criminal cases pending against him in Fatehpur and other districts.
