Amit Shah calls for stronger counter-terror training, faster trials and action against foreign-based masterminds NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah Monday emphasised enhanced training for implementing the country’s first-ever counter-terrorism and counter-radicalisation doctrine, Prahaar, and expediting trial in cases with cross-border linkages by bringing back fugitives and using trial in absentia to bring foreign-based masterminds to justice.In his inaugural address at the two-day National Security Strategies Conference, being attended by over 850 officials from the security forces, agencies and police forces, Shah directed that an artificial intelligence-based analysis of information available on multi-agency centre (MAC) platforms be done to create standard operating procedures to counter various security challenges.The Union minister instructed all the agencies to take strict measures against infiltration and asked police forces to adopt a comprehensive and integrated approach while investigating Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act cases.The first day of the conference focused on discussing critical aspects of national security, including response to counter-terrorism challenges; fusion, analysis and operationalisation of intelligence through MAC; vision document on narcotics control; detection and deportation of illegal migrants; a policy framework to combat cyber-crime; and proxy warfare by Pakistan.

On Tuesday, the conference will deliberate on the threat landscape from sub-aerial systems and formulating countermeasures, securing the blue economy, information warfare and its implications on national security, and the need for a bio-security framework.Prior to inaugurating the conference, the home minister paid tribute at the martyrs’ column here, honouring the supreme sacrifice of Intelligence Bureau personnel to safeguard national security and integrity.The conference, being held in hybrid format, was attended by junior home ministers, deputy NSAs, heads of central paramilitary forces, DGPs of states and UTs, young cops working at the cutting-edge level and experts from specialised fields.
