Several calls received on toll free number seeking regularisation of 22A lands, says Minister

The Revenue department has received 1,162 calls on the toll-free number, facilitating landowners to register their grievances pertaining to lands that are included in the prohibited list under Section 22A of the Registration Act.

Of these, 547 calls pertained to grievances related to agricultural lands and 433 to non-agricultural lands, after filtering out repeat calls. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the department disposed of a majority of lands whose registrations were stopped citing inclusion under Section 22A within 24 hours.

There was no need for genuine owners as the government was firm on preventing attempts by vested interests to seek regularisation of government lands, including Bhudan lands in Medak district in their name. The Minister lamented that several complaints received on the toll-free number pertained to government lands and said review meetings were being conducted every Monday to sort out the issue. Steps had been taken to upload details pertaining to lands included in the prohibited list along with relevant orders.

Mr. Srinivasa Reddy said that claims were being made on CS 7&14 lands, high value disputed properties in the State capital tied to decades old Nizam era civil suits even as the disputes between government and private individuals over their ownership was continuing. This apart, instances of applications seeking regularisation with forged signatures of officials had also come to the notice of the department. “Officials concerned have been directed to register cases against such individuals,” he said.

Steps had been initiated to repay the fee paid by individuals who booked slots but could not carry out transactions. It would take some time to resolve cases pertaining to Bhudan lands as cases on them were pending adjudication.
