Four Manu Samoa 7s internationals — Uaina Sione, Johnny Vaili, Dan Patelesio and Paul Scanlan — have helped Tsunami Rugby claim the RugbyTown 7s Cup in Glendale, Colorado.
The Samoan quartet were part of the Tsunami Rugby side which included Joe Mano (USA Eagles international) that emerged as champions of the prestigious tournament at Infinity Park on Sunday, August 23, taking home the $10,000 winner’s prize.
The victory adds another major achievement to the careers of the four players, who have all represented Manu Samoa in international sevens rugby.
RugbyTown 7s is one of the premier sevens tournaments in the United States, bringing together elite club, representative and international-level players. The tournament is hosted at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado, and features teams from across the United States and overseas.
Tsunami Rugby entered this year’s competition in a highly competitive field, with the tournament featuring 21 teams across four main pools alongside a separate Armed Forces competition.
The tournament’s Cup tier is the main championship competition, with teams progressing through pool play and knockout rounds before the Cup final crowns the overall RugbyTown 7s champion. The Cup winner receives a $10,000 prize.
