Expect scorching temps and some storms in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Sunday will bring hot weather across New Mexico, with middle and upper 90s around Albuquerque and 100 degrees or higher in much of the southeast.

The hottest weather is expected in eastern New Mexico. Some showers and storms is also expected each day, especially over the mountains.

The best chance for showers and storms on Sunday could stay over northwest parts of the state. Any storms could drop heavy rainfall.

Rain chances will generally stay lower across the state Monday and Tuesday. Hot weather will continue to build, with record highs possible later in the week in Albuquerque.

There’s a small increase in rain chances by Wednesday and Thursday. Hotter-than-average weather will continue into next weekend, while many areas of New Mexico keep lower rain chances.

The mountains will continue to see at least some showers and storms most days. A partial eclipse of the moon will be visible across all of New Mexico next Thursday evening.
