After Six Failures, Ravi Teja Sees Light With Irumudi

Ravi Teja is back on the big screen with Irumudi, which released in theatres today, August 21, and the film has become an important one for the actor after a string of box-office disappointments.

The early audience response has been encouraging, raising hopes that Irumudi could finally give Ravi Teja the success he has been waiting for.

Ravi Teja’s last successful film was Waltair Veerayya in 2023. The film, made on a reported budget of around Rs 140 crore, collected about Rs 161.06 crore net in India and emerged successful at the box office.

However, after Waltair Veerayya, Ravi Teja reportedly delivered six consecutive failures.

After Waltair Veerayya, Ravi Teja was seen in Ravanasura, Tiger Nageswara Rao, Eagle, Mr. Bachchan, Mass Jathara, and Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi, all of which were declared failures.

Irumudi has opened to largely positive audience reactions, with Ravi Teja’s performance, emotional content and second half receiving appreciation.

If the positive word of mouth continues, the film could enjoy a strong run in its opening days.

Another advantage is its relatively controlled budget.

Irumudi is reportedly made on a budget of around Rs 35-40 crore, which reduces the box-office risk compared with Ravi Teja’s bigger-budget films.

The film also has a five-day window before Yash’s Toxic arrives in theatres on August 26.

That clean run could prove important for Irumudi to build momentum and recover a major part of its investment before stronger competition arrives.

Even after Toxic releases, Irumudi could continue to retain a reasonable number of shows in the Telugu market if the audience response remains strong.

Written and directed by Shiva Nirvana, Irumudi is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner.

The film also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, Sai Kumar, Baby Nakshathra and Ajay Ghosh in important roles.

For Ravi Teja, Irumudi could be more than just another release.

If the film converts its positive opening talk into solid box-office numbers, it may finally end his long run of failures and mark a much-needed comeback.
