More than VT805 million in road improvement contracts have been approved for six road projects, with the Central Tender Board awarding the contracts to six different companies.

The Council of Ministers approved the Central Tender Board decisions last week following submissions from the Minister of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Hon. Xavier Emmanuel Harry.

From a press statement from the Prime Minister’s Office states that the contracts cover road works at Blacksands, Tamanu, Ellouk, Bukura, Mele and Etas.

Ifrira General Services (IGS) has been awarded a VT83,275,054 contract to tarseal 1.56 kilometres of Blacksands Road.

The 11-kilometre Tamanu Road project has been awarded to Road Stabilizer Process Enterprise (RSPE) Ltd at a cost of VT263,783,695.

Tulaet Projects Limited has been awarded a VT83,477,752 contract to construct 945 metres of fibre-reinforced concrete pavement on Ellouk Road.

Contracts Support Road Upgrades and Local Economy

The Central Tender Board has also awarded Enterprise Dinh Van Tu a VT205,957,054 contract for the upgrade and sealing of 10.5 kilometres of Bukura Road through PWD Shefa.

For Mele Road, Mataru Ltd has secured a VT79,829,640 contract to construct 980 metres of fibre-reinforced concrete pavement within Mele Village, including drainage works.

Meanwhile, Kapiel Aggregate has been awarded VT88,854,940 to improve 1.895 kilometres of the existing gravel road at Etas in preparation for sealing.

The Government says the projects are also intended to support companies in the road construction sector and ensure funding circulates within the local economy.

The road improvements are expected to benefit communities, farmers, students and businesses that rely on the roads daily.
