I read with interest the article in the newspaper regarding the newly constructed Chapel of St. Ignatius at the Gayle and Tom Benson Center on the Loyola University campus in New Orleans.

I appreciated hearing from the architects, Trey Trahan and Brad McWhirter. However, I was greatly disappointed that the writer, Bob Warren, made no mention of their colleague on this project: Dr. Marchita Mauck, a retired art history professor at LSU and the Catholic liturgist who served as the liturgical consultant for this project.

Mauck was instrumental in securing the altar and the various art pieces for the project, and she made significant contributions to the design of the chapel’s prayerful and evocative experience.
