Walmart recalls tomato soup kits amid listeria contamination concerns, FDA says
Mega-retailer Walmart has announced it’s recalling more than 3,000 tomato soup kits sold in 29 states.
Private-label Marketside Tomato Bisque soup kits, sold exclusively at Walmart stores, have been recalled amid a potential listeria contamination, officials with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced earlier this week.

The products were distributed to 29 states between June 30 and July 7, FDA officials said.
Those states include Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
The recalled product is packaged in a wrapped tray with a best-by or use-by date of Aug. 22, officials said. Around 3,240 total kits were recalled.

Kettle Cuisine, the company that manufactures the soup kits, says it has received no confirmed reports of illness with the product.
Consuming products contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause a listeria infection, which primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.
