The first phase of the Jiwaka Kumul Force Operation Illegal Gun Amnesty program ended today.

The second phase of gun surrender will commence on Monday followed by the enforcement with the support of Kumul-23 in phase three.

More than 30 illegal weapons with ammunitions and a live grenade was surrendered in the gun amnesty already.

Two prominent leaders and businessmen in North Waghi district of Jiwaka Province took the initiative to lead their tribesmen to surrender the illegal weapons to police at Banz police station.

Jiwaka Liquor Distributor Kaunga Aipe and Victor Walep took the lead to lead their tribesmen to surrender the illegal firearms.

North Waghi MP Benjamin Mul commended the two leaders with their tribesmen to surrender illegal guns, saying that it was a stepping stone for North Waghi.

There are teams doing awareness in Anglimp South Waghi and Jimi respectively.
