MADISON COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — Two people have been arrested after stealing road signs on Aug. 13 around 10 p.m.
Wyatt Wegener, 24, and Colten Melcher, 18, are being charged with felony theft for unlawful taking or disposition and criminal mischief.
According to Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), the amount of damage and replacement costs are over $4,000 currently.
The damaged signs are currently being replaced. According to MCSO, all stop and yield signs are believed to be fixed.
The two used a cutting torch to cut the road signs from Madison County and the State of Nebraska along with running them over.
The investigation is ongoing.
