Carlson, Barrick lead East to shutout win

Warren East junior Denise Carlson tallied a hat trick with three goals to pace the host Lady Raiders to a season-opening 7-0 girls’ soccer win against Grayson County on Monday.
Rebecca Garms tallied two goals and three assists, Ada Childress and Maggie Rigsby each scored a goal, and Brynn Pitchford, Tyleaiona Hunt and Story Burr each finished with an assist.
Goalkeeper Kynleigh Barrick made five saves to notch the shutout for Warren East (1-0), which visits Green County on Saturday.
Boys’ soccer
South Warren 9, Franklin-Simpson 1
Daniel Rivas delivered a hat trick with three goals and an assist to boost visiting South Warren to a 9-1 boys’ soccer win against Franklin-Simpson on Monday.

Aid Becirovic scored two goals and chipped in with an assist. Yulio Omar Gomez Llerena, Malik Mujic, Devin Brumley and Angel Morfin each scored one goal for the Spartans. Senid Golubovic finished with two assists, and Clay Tinsley also notched an assist.
South Warren (1-0) is back in action Thursday at District 14 rival Greenwood.
Franklin-Simpson (0-1) hosts District 13 rival Todd County Central on Aug. 18.
ACS 2, Edmonson County 0
Homestanding Allen County-Scottsville opened the season with a 2-0 boys’ soccer win against Edmonson County on Monday.
Maher Vera Lima tallied the first goal for the Patriots after a scoreless first half, then Jan Lopez-Magana scored a goal off a penalty kick to set the final margin.
ACS (1-0) returns to action Thursday at Logan County.
Edmonson County (0-1) hosts Clinton County on Friday.
