Nepal storms into ACC U-16 East Zone Cup final with dominant win over Malaysia

Kathmandu, July 3

Nepal has secured a place in the final of the ACC U-16 East Zone Cup after thrashing Malaysia by 9 wickets in the semifinal held on Thursday.

Chasing a modest target of 91 runs, Nepal cruised to victory in just 11.4 overs, losing only one wicket. Parimardan Yadav led the charge with an unbeaten half-century, scoring 59 runs off 35 balls, while Shivansh Bajgain remained not out on 23 runs.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Malaysia was bundled out for 90 runs in 43.1 overs, thanks to disciplined bowling from the Nepali side.

For Malaysia, Muhammad Fathul Muin top-scored with 38 runs, while skipper Diaz Patro managed 10 runs. No other batsman reached double figures.

Nepal’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Abhay Yadav, who took 4 wickets for just 15 runs in his 10 overs. Subham Khanal delivered a brilliant spell, claiming 3 wickets for 12 runs, including 4 maiden overs. Skipper Bipin Prasad Sharma and Sachin Bhatt chipped in with a wicket each.

Nepal will now face the winner between Hong Kong and Singapore in the title clash.
