Sabha – Libya’s Ministry of Health has taken legal action against several private healthcare institutions in Sabha. The measures include the administrative closure of a number of clinics and health facilities until they comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Several medical laboratories have also been shut down for failing to meet health and technical standards.

The ministry said these actions followed an inspection tour by the private healthcare sector administration, in cooperation with relevant regulatory authorities. The inspections targeted several hospitals, medical clinics, pharmacies, and laboratories to monitor their compliance with technical regulations and health and legal standards.

Inspection teams recorded a number of technical and organizational violations. These included issues with infection control, improper management and disposal of medical waste, and incorrect methods for storing medications. Inspectors also checked legal licenses and adherence to approved health policies and regulations.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that inspections and monitoring will continue across private healthcare institutions in cities and regions throughout the country. The ministry said these efforts, conducted with regulatory agencies and relevant authorities, are meant to ensure compliance with health and legal standards and to improve the quality of health services.
