OU Health joins Rise & Shine to discuss cancer screenings & genetic testing

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – On Friday, July 31st an OU Health doctor joined the Rise and Shine Team at News 4 to discuss cancer screenings and genetic testing in 2026.

OU Health’s Dr. Michael Cookson, OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center Deputy Director and Associate Chief Physician Executive says cancer screenings remain as one of the most effective tools for reducing cancer deaths by detecting disease earlier.

Cookson says screening and genetic testing are also vital for early detection efforts.
