South Sudan’s Ministry of Trade and Industry unveiled the Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) in Juba to enforce market regulation, curb monopolies, and eliminate unsafe products.
The Trade Minister, Dr. Labanya Margaret Mathya, launched the independent regulator alongside senior government officials, international organization representatives, private sector leaders, and development partners.
Under its legal mandate, the CCPA will regulate commercial sectors by preventing monopolistic practices, enforcing pricing standards, monitoring product safety, and investigating consumer rights violations.
According to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the regulatory body will operate independently to establish market standards, eliminate unfair trade practices, and protect business and consumer interests across the national economy.
