The Grenada Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) is celebrating another period of outstanding performances by Grenadian swimmers, as the nation’s athletes continue to excel at both regional and international competitions.
At the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Grenada’s swimmers once again demonstrated their ability to compete at the highest level, returning home with three new national records.
Zackary Gresham produced an exceptional championship, setting 2 new Grenadian national records in the 50m Butterfly and 100m Backstroke events, where he secured a place in the semifinals, a first for Grenada on the international stage. Joining him in the record books was Tilly Collymore, who also delivered a record-breaking performance to claim a new national record in the 200m Freestyle event, highlighting the continued progress of Grenadian swimming in the international arena.
Meanwhile, Grenada was proudly represented at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Swimming Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, by Gabrielle Hyson and Jacob Collymore, who both delivered commendable performances against some of the region’s strongest competitors. Hyson secured a place in the A Final of the 200m Butterfly, finishing an impressive 6th overall, while also qualifying for the B Final of the 100m Butterfly. Collymore advanced to the B Final of both the 200m Butterfly and Freestyle events, continuing Grenada’s strong showing at the championships.
GASA extends sincere thanks to our national coaches, Damique Walters and Tendai Haukozi, for their leadership and dedication at the Commonwealth Games and CAC Swimming Championships, respectively. Their guidance continues to play a vital role in the success and development of Grenadian swimming.
Building on these recent successes, GASA is now looking ahead to the 30th Goodwill Swimming Championships, which will be held 14–16 August 2026 at the National Aquatics Centre in Couva, Trinidad. Following a series of evaluations, the association has announced the swimmers selected to represent Grenada at this year’s championships.

The selected team is currently undergoing robust training sessions, which include health checks, dryland assessments, in-water evaluations and mobility sessions to improve their fitness levels and overall performance for the upcoming championships.

The Goodwill Swimming Championships remain one of the Caribbean’s premier age-group competitions and provide an important platform for developing young athletes and preparing them for future regional and international competition.
GASA congratulates every swimmer selected to represent Grenada and extends its appreciation to the coaches, parents, officials, sponsors, and volunteers who continue to support the development of swimming across the island.
With national records continuing to fall, swimmers reaching championship finals, and a talented new generation preparing to compete on the regional stage, the future of Grenadian swimming has never looked brighter. As Team Grenada prepares for the Goodwill Swimming Championships, the association remains committed to developing athletes who will continue to make the nation proud at every level of competition.
