Iraqi court recovers IQD 20 billion in corruption and money laundering cases

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — Iraq’s Rusafa Investigative Court, which specializes in integrity and money laundering cases, has recovered 20 billion Iraqi dinars (approximately $15.3 million) linked to financial corruption, administrative misconduct, and fraud, the country’s judiciary announced on Sunday.

In a statement, the judiciary’s media office said the recovered funds were tied to investigations involving financial and administrative corruption as well as financial fraud.

The court said the recovery forms part of ongoing legal efforts to pursue individuals accused of using illegal methods to obtain profits at the expense of public funds.

Authorities stressed that legal proceedings against those involved remain underway, reaffirming their commitment to combating corruption and protecting state resources.

The judiciary did not disclose additional details regarding the individuals or entities involved, nor did it specify when the alleged offenses occurred.
