THE Resolute Party has expelled Dr. Martin Phiri, accusing him of acting in support of President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND in violation of party and alliance positions.
In a letter dated Aug. 2, 2026 signed by Interim President and Secretary General Alex Katepu, the party said Phiri’s conduct was inconsistent with loyalty, integrity and collective responsibility.
The party stated that Phiri “fundamentally betrayed the trust and confidence” of Resolute Party members and partners in the PF Pamodzi Alliance. It alleged he acted “in a manner that advances the interests of President Hichilema and the UPND in disregard of the Party’s official position and Alliance commitments,” conduct it said “irreparably undermined” confidence in his membership.
The Resolute Party is a member of the PF Pamodzi Alliance, which is supporting Brian Mundubile for president and Makebi Zulu for vice-president under the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity.
Katepu directed Phiri to immediately stop representing the party and to return all party property. The party reaffirmed its support for the Alliance ticket of Mundubile and Zulu.
