Jordan threatens to strike Iranian militias in Iraq if they launched attacks

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Amman has publicly warned Iraq that it will launch military operations against Iran-backed militias if they attack Jordan.

The warning comes after a rapid increase in regional violence, including recent interceptions of Iranian ballistic missiles and drones over Jordanian airspace, which targeted US installations.

An official Jordanian source told Al-Arabiya News that Jordan provided Iraq with precise intelligence indicating that pro-Iran militants are planning to strike Jordanian territory.

Jordan has publicly said that it expects the Iraqi government to take quick and effective measures to curb these armed groups.

Jordanian sources identify front organizations such as Awliya al-Dam as key players in these border-threatening actions.

The warning represents a strong change in Jordan’s defensive stance in the face of rising tensions between the United States and Iran.

Jordan harbors critical Western military installations, such as the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, which have become active targets for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its allies in the region.

Jordan emphasized that, while it aims to avoid regional escalation, it considers national sovereignty and border security to be inviolable priorities.
