Republican state Rep. Austin McCollum jailed on domestic battery charges

State Rep. Austin McCollum, a four-term Republican lawmaker who appears to be the only official candidate in an upcoming election for Benton County judge, is in jail today on charges of domestic battery. So that’s probably going to be a problem for him.

The 35-year-old who’s enjoyed endorsements and attaboys from Gov. Sarah Sanders and Attorney General Tim Griffin was arrested in the wee hours Saturday on domestic battering charges.

We’re looking into it and will have more information soon.
