PARTI Amanah Negara (Amanah) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) suffered major setbacks in the Negeri Sembilan state election, failing to secure any seats based on unofficial results.

Amanah, which contested nine seats, lost all its contests, including the defence of its only remaining stronghold, the Klawang state seat.

In Klawang, incumbent Datuk Bakri Sawir was defeated by Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) candidate Danni Rais, who secured 746 votes compared with Bakri’s 683. Bersatu candidate Adib Musa trailed behind with just 83 votes.

The defeat means Amanah has lost the sole seat it won in the 2023 Negeri Sembilan state election.

Apart from Klawang, Amanah also fielded candidates in Serting, Lenggeng, Senaling, Johol, Paroi, Kota, Bagan Pinang and Gemencheh, but failed to make inroads in any of the constituencies.

The party had previously held both Klawang and Paroi, but only managed to retain Klawang after the 15th General Election, while Paroi fell to Perikatan Nasional (PN), which was won by its candidate Kamarol Ridzuan Mohd Zin.

Meanwhile, Bersatu also failed to make a breakthrough in the state, with none of its 24 candidates leading in any constituency based on unofficial results.

The party, which contested across 24 seats including four candidates from its associate wing in Jeram Padang, Nilai, Rahang and Sri Tanjung, also failed to defend the Gemas and Labu seats.

In the 2023 state election, Bersatu captured Labu and Gemas with majorities of 1,640 and 3,120 votes, respectively.

The latest results mark a difficult outing for both Amanah and Bersatu, with neither party managing to retain their previous footholds in the state. – August 1, 2026
