Gretna’s incoming Buc-ee’s approved for funding through Nebraska’s Good Life District project

GRETNA, Neb. (KLKN) — The City of Gretna approved funding for Buc-ee’s, a travel center, gas station and convenient store. The funding will comes from Nebraska’s Good Life District Economic Development program.

The City of Gretna said the program is the reason Buc-ee’s is building a store there.

“The Buc-ee’s representative has told us time and time again that if it were not for this amazing incentive, they would not have looked at Nebraska,” Paula Dennison, City Administrator of Gretna, said.

The Good Life District program is a state incentive where certain districts receive a portion of the sales tax generated in that area. The portion is 2.75% out of 5.5%, half of the state’s sales tax. The funding is to be used to invest in projects that will bring travelers to Nebraska.

The upcoming Buc-ee’s is the first one on Interstate 80.

Dennison said this approval is a big financial step for Buc-ee’s.
