Thai Prime Minister apologizes after murder of two Russians in Pattaya

AKIPRESS.COM – Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the site where the bodies of two Russian citizens were found in Pattaya and apologized for the killings.

After visiting the scene, he went to a local police station and said authorities would take steps to prevent similar crimes from happening again.

“We apologize for what happened. This incident has damaged Thailand’s image,” the prime minister said.

He also noted that Thailand retains the death penalty and said the authorities are prepared to apply it in cases involving particularly dangerous repeat offenders.

The victims, 22-year-old Diana Nazimova and her 17-year-old brother Roman, disappeared on July 26. Before going missing, Diana told her mother they were riding a motorcycle to a store and mentioned noticing suspicious people who appeared to be following them.

The siblings’ motorcycle was later found dismantled and buried near a cemetery in Chonburi Province. According to investigators, the arrested suspects admitted they intended to steal the motorcycle, but the siblings resisted. Police allege the suspects then killed both victims. Their bodies have been sent for forensic examination.
