PIGGS PEAK UNITES TO BREAK THE SILENCE ON GENDER BADED VIOLENCE

PIGGS PEAK– Residents of Piggs Peak came together on Friday in a united stand against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) as Piggs Peak Town Council, in partnership with the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPM’s Office), the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), SWAGAA and other key stakeholders, has successfilly hosted a GBV Awareness Campaign at the Piggs Peak Bus Rank.

The campaign sought to educate the public on the different forms of Gender-Based Violence, raise awareness about the support services available to survivors, and encourage community members to report abuse and play an active role in preventing violence.

Addressing residents during the event, stakeholders stressed that ending Gender-Based Violence requires the collective efforts of government institutions, law enforcement agencies, civil society organisations and the community at large. They urged the public to reject all forms of violence and foster a culture of respect, equality and protection for women, children and other vulnerable groups.

Throughout the campaign, residents received information on recognising the signs of abuse, accessing available support services and the importance of speaking out against violence. Community members were encouraged to break the silence surrounding Gender-Based Violence and to support survivors by reporting cases to the relevant authorities.

Piggs Peak Town Council expressed its gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the Royal Eswatini Police Service, SWAGAA and all partnering organisations for their continued collaboration and commitment to creating safer communities.

The Council also thanked residents who participated in the awareness campaign, describing their involvement as a clear indication that the community is committed to confronting Gender-Based Violence and protecting the rights and dignity of all people.

The campaign concluded with a renewed call for everyone to work together in ending abuse, supporting survivors and building a safer, stronger and violence-free Piggs Peak.
