PM Wale Hosts U-16 Team, Pledges Support for World Cup Journey

PM Matthew Wale congratulates the Solomon Islands U-16 team and pledges Government support for FIFA U-17 preparations

THE Solomon Islands National U-16 Team today paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister, Matthew Wale.

Prime Minister Wale warmly welcomed the young players and extended his congratulations to the coach, team management and the squad for their outstanding achievement.

He commended the team for making Solomon Islands proud, acknowledging their discipline both on and off the field.

“Keep winning and always remain determined and committed,” Prime Minister Wale encouraged.

He added that in challenging times, such positive results bring hope and uplift the spirit of the nation.

Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) President, Donald Marahare, expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister for his encouraging message shared on Facebook, noting that it greatly motivated the team.

Head Coach Henry Fa’arodo Jnr briefed the Prime Minister on the team’s preparations leading up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar next year.

SIFF Chief Executive Officer, Leonard Paia, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation to ensure the team is ready for the global stage.

Prime Minister Wale reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to working closely with SIFF to support the team in their preparations.

Mr. Paia also thanked the Prime Minister for recognising the efforts of the team and its players.

The players were also given the opportunity to introduce themselves and interacted with the Prime Minister.
