ON SATURDAY MORNING, July 25, 2026, the SVG-Cuba Friendship Society held a vehicle motorcade aimed at expressing “solidarity with Cuba in this very sad and complex time of its history. So this motorcade is meaningful, and on behalf of my country, my people, I wanted to say thank you very much, Venezuelan people and Cubans living and working here in the country, because this means a lot. And the objective, the objective is to continue to raise awareness about the situation in Cuba, what is happening there.”
A number of Vincentians together with some Cubans that live and work here in St.Vincent and the Grenadines because as current Cuban Ambassador His Excellency Carlos Etcheverry to St.Vincent and the Grenadines told Searchlight: “because they want to show solidarity and they want to show support to Cuba in this very difficult time for my country.”
He further stated, “It is not a secret that Cuba is under threat by the U.S., by the government of the United States of America. And we have been living under very difficult, extremely difficult circumstances since January this year and beyond, but especially since January this year when President Trump decided to impose an energy blockade towards my country.That means that in 2026, six months now, seven months, we haven’t been able to get oil from any country.”
