Orlando Pirates to make R3 Million on Saturday?

Orlando Pirates have opened ticket sales for their season opener against Milford FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena. Supporters are expected to turn out in large numbers for Abdeslam Ouaddou’s second season in charge.

ORLANDO PIRATES EXPECT BIG CROWD

The Buccaneers have confirmed that tickets will cost R100 each.

The Orlando Amstel Arena has a capacity of 37,139. The stadium hosted several sell-out crowds last season, and another full house is expected this weekend.

The excitement around the new campaign has boosted demand. Fans are also eager to see the club’s new signings in competitive action for the first time. Having won the Betway Premiership, MTN8 and Carling Knockout last season, while adding nine exciting new signings during the transfer window, Orlando Pirates are expected to attract massive crowds throughout the 2026/27 campaign.

The club finished the league campaign with an outstanding 21-6-3 record, amassing 69 points and registering a club-record 21 victories in a single premiership season. Alongside their league triumph, the Buccaneers secured the MTN8 title in September 2025 – becoming the first team in history to win the tournament four consecutive times.

NEWS RECORDS

Statistically, the club reached unprecedented heights by breaking its long-standing club scoring record. Orlando Pirates produced their most lethal attacking form in decades, hitting 62 goals across 36 games in all competitions, which averaged out to an incredible 1.7 goals per game.

Defensively, the team was equally formidable, proving to be the most disciplined backline in South Africa by conceding just 11 goals in 30 league matches, anchored by goalkeeper Sipho Chaine who kept a remarkable 16 clean sheets.

MILFORD FC MATCH COULD REACH R3 MILLION

The club expects to sell between 25,000 and 30,000 tickets. That figure excludes complimentary tickets issued to sponsors, stakeholders and guests.

If Orlando Pirates sell 25,000 tickets, they will generate R2.5 million in gate revenue. Selling 30,000 tickets would increase that figure to R3 million.

A packed Orlando Amstel Arena would give the reigning Betway Premiership champions a strong start to the new season. It would also underline the Buccaneers’ status as one of the best-supported clubs in South African football.
