is leading the Grand Civic-Military Parade held on Brasil Avenue as part of Peru’s Independence Day celebrations.
Retired Peruvian National Police General and now Senator Marco Miyashiro marched past the reviewing stand today, leading the Special Intelligence Group (GEIN).
Likewise, retired Army General Cesar Astudillo, now serving as Interior Minister, will march as part of the rescue unit that participated in the 1997 Operation Chavin de Huantar.
The Head of State began her official activities this morning by participating in the ceremony during which she was officially recognized as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Peruvian National Police.
The Grand Civic-Military Parade is one of Peru’s most anticipated patriotic events every year. It marks the conclusion of the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
The Ministry of Defense has announced the participation of around 3,000 people, including members of the Armed Forces, the National Police, and invited institutions.
