The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, said Tuesday evening that her administration will remain close to the people and “out in the field” after watching the “Pasacalle por el Peru” parade from one of the balconies of Government Palace in Lima.
This event was organized by the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima as part of Peru’s Independence Day celebrations.
“As I have said, we will always have a Government that is close to the people and out in the field,” Fujimori stated while congratulating Lima Mayor Renzo Reggiardo on the event held to commemorate Peru’s anniversary.
In remarks to TVPeru, the Head of State thanked all the foreign delegations that arrived in Lima to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony.
“I am grateful for the opportunity we have been given to govern for five years—1,826 days—during which we will once again place the State back at the service of citizens. I am deeply moved to have this great opportunity and great responsibility,” she stated.
The top official emphasized that, together with Prime Minister Luis Galarreta, she has formed an “excellent Cabinet” comprising competent, professional individuals, experts in their respective sectors, and politicians with considerable political standing.
“So, I am optimistic about all the work that will be carried out,” Fujimori expressed.
From the balcony on the right side of Government Palace, the president watched dance performances presented by various cultural associations participating in the “Pasacalle por el Peru.”
This event drew large crowds of residents and tourists to Lima’s Main Square.
President Fujimori also watched a fireworks display.
Shortly beforehand, the Head of State received greetings from various authorities and diplomatic delegations as part of Independence Day celebrations.
