The Principal of the Milton Margai School for the Blind, Salieu Turay, has described Africell as a champion of hope and inclusion following the official launch of the company’s first telemarketing centre fully operated by visually impaired persons.
The facility, unveiled at the Milton Margai School for the Blind on Wilkinson Road in Freetown, represents a landmark initiative aimed at empowering persons with visual impairments through employment and skills development.
The ceremony was attended by Africell Group Chairman and Founder, Mr. Ziad Dalloul, Chief Executive Officer of Africell Sierra Leone, Mr. Shadi Al-Gerjawi, Mr. Martison Obeng-Agyei of Afrimoney Sierra Leone, government officials, development partners and other invited guests.
Speaking during the event, Principal Salieu Turay praised Africell for demonstrating a strong commitment to empowering persons with disabilities through practical and sustainable initiatives.
He described the telemarketing centre as a beacon of hope that will transform the lives of visually impaired Sierra Leoneans by creating meaningful employment opportunities and equipping them with vocational and technical skills.
Turay noted that the project reflects the company’s commitment to inclusion and equal opportunity, adding that it sends a powerful message that persons with disabilities are capable of making valuable contributions to national development when given the right support.
The telemarketing centre is expected to create employment opportunities for visually impaired persons while serving as a platform for vocational training, digital skills development and economic empowerment.
The initiative forms part of Africell’s broader corporate social responsibility programme, which seeks to promote inclusion, empower vulnerable groups and expand access to sustainable livelihoods.
The centre is also expected to serve as a model for inclusive employment in Sierra Leone, reinforcing Africell’s vision of driving sustainable development through innovation, opportunity and equal participation for all.
