Iraqi PM arrives in Turkey on an official visit

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Tuesday, for an official visit following an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Al-Zaidi said in a statement on X that his trip to Turkey will focus on investments, water, and development projects, as well as efforts to enhance stability in the region.

Turkish media highlighted the significance of the visit, as it is expected to broaden constructive collaboration between the two countries, particularly in the areas of water, energy, security, and economic cooperation, according to the state-run news agency (INA).

In addition to trade, security cooperation, and combating terrorism, al-Zaidi will discuss establishing a cooperative water management entity based on shared interests, as well as scientific collaboration and investment in advanced technology, to serve the interests of both Iraq and Turkey.

Al-Zaidi is scheduled to fly to Saudi Arabia on Thursday for an official visit, following his diplomatic trip to the Turkish capital, Ankara.

The trip is part of a larger regional diplomatic tour aiming to maintain regional balance and strengthen Iraq’s business connections.

The prime minister recently conducted high-level diplomatic visits to the United States on July 13 and Iran on July 23.
